(Take Me On) A Staircase to Heaven (Part 2)

They say every journey begins with a single step, so why not make that step in the safest place first - let's say your home? For those of you who aren't the biggest risk takers, here is the second portion of the most amazing staircases I have ever seen, as well as a short tutorial on how to recreate each look in your home by yourself.

These Do-it-yourself staircases will definitely elevate the look of your home, add a sense of uniqueness and show off your personal style.

1. Rainbow staircase

Who isn't mesmerised by rainbows? ... I know I am for sure, no wonder this type of DIY staircase is one my favourites. Besides, this type of stairs are probably the most easiest you can make by yourself at home, no special skills required.

Rainbows, as an optical phenomenon, appear when water droplets are reflected by light in the Earth's atmosphere, resulting in a spectrum of light in the sky.  The primary rainbow colours are seven - red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet. It is entirely up to your taste, whether you'll follow and recreate an original rainbow on your staircase, or go for different colours. In both cases it will turn out great.

2. Chevron Staircase

I am a big fan of geometric shapes, almost as much as I'm a sucker for prints. The term Chevron means a V-shaped stripe or line (as you can see from the picture above). Most ordinary in the form of a broad inverted V-shape.

Making this beautiful chevron pattern isn't that hard. Opt for the colours first, then start applying the stair risers with the lighter shade (in our case - white) and allow it to set in and dry after. Draw the the pattern of your choice, using a ruler to make sure it will be even. Mark the triangle's inside with tape and paint it over with a roller, but be careful not to put an excessive amount of paint. If you put too much, it will probably bleed trough the tape. Remove the tape after and do not bother if there are any imperfections. You can easily fix that with an artist brush.

2. Book Staircase

I am completely torn between the rainbow staircase and this one, because they're both look equally amazing to me. The only difference lies in the fact, this bookworm's staircase requires a steady hand, some drawing skills or at least owning hundreds of books (which I do) for the second look.

You've probably figured out you can buy sticky letters and use them for the headlines. But if you want to copy the exact look of your favourite book, some drawing will be involved, it depends on the book's look itself. Find the right time and desire, to remake all your beloved covers.

Hope I've inspired you to grab a brush, or another tool of your choice and start beautifying your home this instant. After all, home is where the heart is, and your heart deserves to be in a pretty and happy place all the time.

  1. Just love the book staircase! Wow would that be fun to make - if only I had stairs LOL. I do have one stair in studio that I was planning on re-doing and it may have to be with a book look!
